Well hasn’t the world just changed in a month! Luckily, working from home has meant a lot has been done and we are closer than ever to the upcoming alpha despite COVID-19, earthquakes and more.

Easter Wearables

Easter is here and while it might not feel much like a celebration this year, I hope you all manage to catch up with friends and family in some way. To celebrate, we have released some Exclusive Easter 2020 wearables which are available for purchase for a very limited time.

Egg-cellent Backpack, Bunny Bifocals and Chickedee Hat

As always, the money raised goes directly into the development of the game. Most critically, these wearables will only be available this year…

I know many people might not have the funds to support us at this time. As a result, we will be running a competition on Twitter (starting tomorrow) where you will have a chance to win yourself a wearable of your choice! Stay tuned to our Twitter for more info.

Development Progress

Breeding

Breeding has been a key focus this month. If you follow us on Twitter, you would have noticed that we tweeted our first successful breed which occurred a week or so ago.

At this stage, the breeding has focused on visual traits from both of the parents. The results, we think, are pretty cute! From here, work will continue on breeding by looking at the recessive and dominant traits from the parents that will be given to the baby cube.

In the image above, you can see the family of Cubes with the parents on the right. With the babies:

  • Baby Cube 1 has the skin pattern, colour and eyes of one parent with the tail of the other parent
  • Baby Cube 2 has the skin colour and tail of one parent with the skin pattern and eyes of another
  • Baby 3 has the skin pattern, colour of one Cube with the eyes and tail of the other parent

Research Update

Final touches this month were done on the research system. There are now multiple research subtopics within each major topic. Over the course of the next month or so, we will be working to refine and improve the UI for this to make it clearer for players.

Other Areas of Progress

We have also made progress in other areas this month, including:

  • Serialisation for saving data
  • Models and textures for the construction and building animations
  • Substantial work done on sound effects and game music

We hope that next month I will be able to showcase the sound effects and game music.

New Enjin Forums

This month Enjin launched their new & improved Enjin Forum. Created for developers, users & community members, the forum is designed to be a collaborative space to connect, promote Enjin games and get support.

Nestables has added an official forum post:

Nestables Alpha

As a final note, we are getting much closer now to a closed alpha for the holders of Nestables Founder’s Tokens. The majority of the early alpha gameplay that we promised to be completed is nearly done. This work has been only been made possible by you, the community and your support during our pre-sale.

We are excited to keep you as a community informed of our development progress. Until the next post, you can stay tuned with our progress via our Telegram & Twitter.
